Pond’toons are an ideal breeding aide
to maximize survival of baby koi. When koi spawn, they are very aggressive and males will often shove the female and other
males up against sharp rocks along the pond edge, creating injuries. A row of Pond’toons creates a safe spawning surface
to catch the fertilized eggs. The Pond’toons can then be easily transferred to a separate nursery pond or left in the
main pond. When the fry hatch, they swim into the middle zone of the Pond’toon, protected from being eaten by the adult
koi. The warmer, highly oxygenated pure water created by the Pond’toon unit is an excellent environment for rapid koi
growth! Abundant microscopic creatures, which the fry naturally feed on, are found in the spaces between layers in the Pond’toon
units that have been planted for several weeks. As the young koi grow, they can venture out but swim back into the Pond’toon
if adult koi approach. You’ll have more and healthier baby koi with Pond’toons in your pond!
